"We have had a great time here. Very relaxing. Our gite has provided everything we needed and we have enjoyed visiting the surrounding areas. Best beach was Vert Bois on Isle d'Oleron - great waves for body boarding. Thanks to David and Kate for being excellent hosts. We hope to come back soon. Childrens' comments - I have really enjoyed my time at La Forge, the pool was great but a bit cold. Apart from that I cannot find a single flaw in La Forge. Thanks David and Kate. This place has been awesome. I loved the bed it was so comfy! It has been great fun. One of the best holidays in my life. "

"A great week. Weather was 38 degrees! Pool lovely, just the job to cool down on the hot days. David and Kate lovely hosts and David even drove us to and from the car hire in town and local Thenac airfield as we flew in - just wonderful. My own request for absolutely perfect gite would be a hairdryer but maybe because I forgot mine as we packed in such a hurry. Hope to come back for a return visit - our love and thanks to David and Kate"

"Spent 4 weeks here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great placefor 2 young kidswith such a safe pool and lots of game and outdoor space to keep them occupied. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding area including Isle de Re with beautiful villages; beaches of Isle D'oleron, beaches around Royan (St Georges de Didon, Palmyre) and secluded Meschers; excellent zoo at Palmyre, La Rochelle with old town quay and walks, aquarium and boat trips; Otard Distillery in Cognac for a great historical tour; Bordeaux World Heritage site along the quays of Bordeaux; old Roman ruins in Saintes; Chateau de la Roche Courbonne and lots of driving past fields of Sunflowers!"

"We have had a wonderful fortnight. Despite having very lively children, 7,5 and 2, we had a very relaxed time. The children were content to stay in the village or play by the pool. The locals are lovely and friendly. We managed 2 days out to La Rochelle and Royan but couldn't wait to get back to the tranquil village of Thénac and the gite. David and Kate were so welcoming and helpful, especially introducing the local wine. Definitely coming back next year. "

"We have had a lovely week, gite is comfortable and well equipped. Great base for trips to Cognac and Bordeaux but also enjoyed the pool, Chatelaillon and La Rochelle. "La Rustica" restaurant in St Leger is well worth a visit with a lovely sunny terrace. David and Kate were very helpful with information about visits, fishing, restaurants and vineyards!
